A Gift

A Gift!

1 Timothy 4:14

God has given us so many gifts!  The first one and most important is the gift of salvation (John 3:16)!  Then, there is grace, mercy and forgiveness, as far as the east is from the west.  The gifts of the fruit of the spirit.  The gift of peace and long suffering.  He has given us armor to protect us and keep us strong in the faith, His word!  He has given us a secret place to abide. He also gives us personal gifts.  Some are meant to preach or teach.  We are like a human body of Christ.  Some are the hands, some are the feet, some gifted in hospitality, and some who are the eyes of  God, that can recognize the brokenhearted.  Out of His abundant love, comes so many wonderful gifts!

Have you recognized your gifts yet?  If you are lacking in Joy, maybe you are not unwrapping and enjoying the gifts He has given you? The way to experience joy is to utilize the gifts that God has given us.  Wouldn't it be disappointing to go to a birthday party and the recipient not open their gifts!  And even worse, they just look at them and don't use them!

I wonder if God feels that way when we ignore our gifts and don't use them or share them?  Don't you LOVE listening to music, or admiring artwork, or listening to someone's beautiful voice.  Or to witness someone's wedding, as they decorate, and admire the talent and gift of a wedding planner. As we think of  athletes as they share their strengths with the world through, skating, running, gymnastics and many other events, amazing gifts!

The wonderful thing about it, is that we are not all meant to be athletes, or artists, or a wedding planner, or a preacher or teacher.  You are unique and wonderfully made to experience your own personal gifts.  If you don't know what those gifts are, start praying about it and God will soon show you what your purpose is, and what your personal gifts are.  I assure you, we ALL have gifts, even if you don't think you do.  You might be surprised to learn what they are!

I picked up a paint brush today and started to wash the paper with God's love!  The many colors of love that He has given us. When we exercise our personal gifts, it brings such JOY!  When we share our talents with others, it just adds more Joy to the cup and soon it is over flowing!
