Cup of the Day!

Today's short story

Just an ordinary day with things to think about.  We had a discussion at work today brought on by the newspaper calling and wanting to do an article on concealed weapons.  One of the girls in our department was going to take a course in concealed weapons and the newspaper wanted to interview her.  I understand why; because in today's world there is so much evil and man's heart is filled with fear.  Out of protection, we want to make sure we are prepared!  
But are we prepared, even with a gun?

  I am for the "freedom" to have guns; but at the same time I despise them.  I still have the echo in my ear from when my own father would clean his guns.   I never understood why it would make me cry when he would clean his guns?  To me they are a symbol of devastation and destruction, whether it is pointed at a straw target, a bird, an animal or a human being!  They are the symbol of anti-life! 

This is what God has to say about armor and it doesn't include a gun?  He tells us to put on the whole armor of God so we can stand against the wiles of the devil, (men's hearts that are filled with evil).  God tells us that we don't wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places!

Ephesians 6

He urges us to dress appropriately for the battle so we can stand in the evil day, and having done all to stand!  He starts with reminding us to cover our loins with the truth of His word.  Then put on the breast plate of righteousness, and cover your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace! 

If we all got it, we wouldn't need to hold a gun!  Because our hands would be holding grace and goodness, through God's love!  Grace - Unconditional love - New life in Him! Shoot that into your heart and see what happens!  We not only would have a JOYFUL life here in this world; but would also have eternal life with Him in Heaven! 

The final instruction about God's armor is to put on the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints! 

Hold on to the gun that God has given you; instead of the cold metal that the world hands to you.

Grace - "Grace and truth came by Jesus Christ." John 1:17
Unconditional - John 3:17 -No condemnation! 
N - New life through Him!  Romans 6:4

2 Timothy 1:7 

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."

Day 3 - Revealing the Heart  Can we let truth speak louder than our feelings?  The longer we speak, read and live truth, our feelings will need to agree!  While reading my devotional today in (Ephesians 3:12) it talks about having courage and confidence in Christ.  The word used in the text was unreserved.   I wanted to look up the definition.  And as I read it, it created this boldness in my heart while I read the words out loud. You may want to try doing this yourself.   It started with unconditional, unqualified (no qualification required) without reservation, unlimited, categorical, unequivocal, unambiguous, absolute, complete, thorough, wholehearted, full, total and undivided.  This is God's love, his love is complete and unlimited.  There is only one way to interpret it, clear and concise.  It goes on to say in ( Ephesians 3:17) by faith we are rooted and grounded in Christ's love!  We often distance ourselves from the very source we need because of feelings

Day 1 - New Year 2015

Day 1 of the New Year 2015 Let me not lose sight of you Lord Jesus!  1)Happiness 2.)Abiding in the Lord  3.) Power of your Word 4.) The inspiration of the Holy Spirit!  5.) Day 2 - JOY

Day 2 You might think there is a magic formula in obtaining "Joy".  Relationship and resolution to have a closer relationship with the one who provides joy, it is a simple formula, but few take it.  Psalm 33:22 "Let your loving kindness, O Lord, be upon us, according, as we have hope in You."   As we claim every promise that God has given us as our own, it deposits one more gem of joy in our heart.  As we take this journey of joy together, be patient as He shows us victory in every circumstance, no matter how it looks to us on the outside of our heart.  He can give us peace from within. Keep your focus on the beauty of His creative and magnificent hand.  And before long, you will feel Him holding your hand.  "We wait for the Lord.  he is our help and our shield.  In him our hearts find joy.  In his holy name we trust."   Psalm 33:20-21 The heart of gratitude!  1.)
