A Broken and Hemorrhaging Heart!

A Broken and Hemorrhaging Heart!

Proverbs 4:23 - Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.  What is in us,comes out of us.  Are we looking for a superficial healing or a real healing; made as new!  What is the key to healing the broken heart?

Coming from a heart that has hemorrhaged!  A violent hemorrhaging!  Hemorrhaging caused by rejection, rape, divorce, death of loved ones, emotional abuse, sexual abuse and abortion, it left a bleeding, open, gushing, wound.  Have you been through divorce, or perhaps returned from a military assignment with this heaviness and loneliness? Or given your beloved child for adoption because you felt there was no other way?- Sometimes a broken heart can start at a very young age, through emotional abuse or physical abuse.  There are many circumstances that can cause a broken heart. Most of the time we don't even realize we are walking around with a shattered and bleeding heart.  A heart that has been through war; but has not yet healed.

Those of us that recognize that something is wrong, usually put a band-aid on it and move on.  And it continues to bleed out throughout our lives; it shows up in how we treat others and in how we treat ourselves.  We usually push others away, hide the heart through drugs and alcohol or other devices and so hide ourselves from further damage.

Nothing on this earth has the ability to heal a broken heart; except the power of the healing hand of Christ Jesus.  (Mark 2:10) He has given His believers the same power to heal and, in fact it is a commandment for us to do the same for others.

Jesus came to heal the brokenhearted.  Not just put a bandage on a hemorrhage; but to completely heal the wound as if it never happened.

Isaiah 61:1 "The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good tidings to the poor; he has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion.

Part of the recipe for healing the broken heart is - proclaim forgiveness for those who have wounded you, causing your heart to hemorrhage.  And forgive yourself because if you forgive those who have hurt you; God's word promises that he will forgive you.  Ask Him and believe!  (I John 2:12, Matthew 6:14&15)

Marinate in God's Word!

I too have felt the deep heaviness and loneliness of a broken heart.  How do you overcome a heart that has been thrown down and shattered?  I like the analogy that Joyce Meyers used
when explaining how to fix a broken heart.

She said she had a friend who would fix the most wonderful steaks.  He didn't use a cleaver to pound the steak to tenderness; he used a marinate and would soak the steak in the marinate sauce for several hours before cooking.  They were tender and delicious!  What would happen to our heart if we used God's word as a marinate; soaked it up for hours and poured it over our heart every few minutes?  What IF? Would it become tender, a heart after His?

Pray, communicate with the One who loves you the very most!  Come to Him and ask Him to heal your brokenness.  Don't ask Him for a band-aid; but ask Him for complete healing.  He is a faithful and just God that will forgive us and He will take care of those who have offended us, who caused the open wound.  Believe God has the power in His hand to remake and renew! You don't need to have a wounded heart anymore.  He will remove the wound in it's entirety.   There is a Holy God with a Holy hand of healing, take it and heal!
