The Will - Who is the CEO here?  This is what I often tell myself, as the emotions cascade over my soul like an unbeatable force.  The pressure so intense, you feel your mind slipping, like fingers holding onto the edge of a cliff?  If you realize that YOU have full charge over the "Will" would you do things differently?    It would be so much easier to let go and go with the natural flow.  I envision holding on to a cliff as the water rushes over me to dislodge me and take away my feeling of peace and contentment.  Falling into a deep pool where the water is wild, and rushing in every direction.  How did I get here?  Why do I "feel" like I am hanging and ready to let go?   Is it really natural at all?  The thoughts, like liquid, penetrates my soul, taking over my brain. It's a mixture of anger, resentment, bitterness, lust and disdain.  All those temptations just pounding at your soul! Wanting to take over.

Life's circumstances often come with these emotions.  It could be financial, not having enough money to live.  It could be something someone has said.  It could be the way someone else has treated you, or ignored you altogether.  It could be something dear to you has been taken away!  What happens when we are faced with these things, these emotions?  Do I let the natural take over or do I fight back?

The Will is like a muscle, if you don't feed it with good thoughts, loving thoughts, thoughts of security and well-being, it becomes weak and easily swayed, almost like a natural path that has been created because it has been taken so many times.  The grass has been beaten down to create a smooth, easy path.  The question is, is your path made of anger or bitterness, mixed with resentment, or is it made of security, love and peace of mind.   Where do we find the ammunition to fight back, can we fight back?  God says we can fight back.

Remember in the last blog I talked about words and how they are seeds that can either shrivel up or bloom into a thought, and then into a belief.   In Phillipians 4:8 God tells us exactly what to meditate on.....things that are true (such as YOU ARE LOVED).  Things that are noble (He sees that you work each day - you fight within your mind to do right).  Things that are just.  Doesn't it give you peace in your soul and mind when justice is served, when we are treated with equality and respect.  Man may not always treat us this way; but God does.  Things that are pure...such as the new born child, the bloom of a flower, the baby bird in the nest being watched over by the caring mother.  Whatsoever is lovely...the full bloom and fragrance of a rose, the meadow filled with tulips, the snow covered mountain, the slow flow of a river.  Whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue or praise - meditate on these things.  It is refreshing to hear a good report about someone, and even yourself!  This is the ammunition to fight back.  Fight the GOOD fight!
